External HDDs going to sleep constantly on Mac OS

LACIE 2Big Dock into an M1 Max MBP. Getting the issue (which seems to be widespread judging by multiple posts I've seen about it) where the external drive is spinning down or 'going to sleep' after 30-60 seconds of inactivity.

This wasn't happening for me until I upgraded to 13.2.1. Does anyone have a solid fix to this?

I've tried using Amphetamine but that's also fairly irritating as you can hear the drive doing 'something' when the app is writing to it to keep it from sleeping.

Hi keillerm,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities.

If you haven't already, you will want to make sure the settings are in place. Set sleep and wake settings for your Mac - Apple Support

Have you tried changing your settings, restart your MacBook Pro, and then place the settings back and test to see if this continues?

If so, you will want to reach out to Apple Support so they may look into this with you further.

Take care!
