Problems with Ipad Air 5 and Usb C to headphone adapter

Hi, I recently bought a 5 generation iPad Air with M1. I use it professionally for audio work, being a sound designer. I recently bought a simple USB C to headphone adapter and I'm having a rather annoying problem. When I listen to music everything is fine, the problem happens when the iPad has the screen off, or I'm working on other apps, or simply when I don't listen to music. Clicks, pops can be heard almost on a regular basis. By connecting the iPad to a very powerful audio system, these clicks are obviously very loud and annoying. I tried restarting, unplugging and plugging the adapter back in, but unfortunately the problem persists. I knew of similar problems on M1 IPad Pro 2021, is there anyone else having the same problem as me?

Thanks for connecting with us here in Apple Support Communities. Is there any way to test out your iPad with a different adapter? It can help determine if the issue is with the equipment itself. You'll also want to make sure that your iPad is running the latest software as this can affect the overall performance of your device. I tried two different original adapters, the problem persists. I also tried resetting the iPad but the problem continues.

In the updates it appears to me that the ipad is updated to the latest version. Do I have to wait for iOS 16.4??

Are you also able to test with an alternate set of wired headphones? This will let you know if this behavior is isolated to the iPad or the headphones themselves.

If you find that it's isolated to the iPad, we'd suggest that you contact Apple directly as your iPad may require service. You can find their contact details here: Contact Apple Support

unfortunately I tried a new clean installation (from the mac) of the OS, but nothing, after some time the problem persists. I tried to change adapter, I tried to connect different speakers including wired headphones, the problem continues. Now I don't know if this is a software problem that can be fixed with an update or a hardware problem.
