Apple Maps can no longer repeat the last spoken turn direction

On prior versions of Apple Maps, I could simply press say "Hey Siri, repeat last direction and it would do so. I could also ask for my ETA and it would tell me that as well. Very handy, especially if you don't have a phone holder.

Now (as of iOS 16 I think) Siri no longer relates any commands to Apple Maps when it is in use. Instead these commands just cause Siri to generate search results based on the words in the command, saying "here's what I found for ... " and outputs a written list of search results. I guess the removed Siri's Apple Maps integration. Wow! :(

Another post said the following which seems to be the only way now to get Siri to repeat a direction that you may have missed.

"To get a direction repeated, now I Go to the speaker icons on the map itself > Click on the "speaker on" icon to get a dropdown of different speaker icons > Click to the icon with a line through it ("no voice") > Click on the "no voice" icon to get a drop down of different speaker icons > Click on the "speaker on" icon."

This actually would force someone to take their eyes off the road in order to do something as simple as have Siri repeat the last direction! Come on Apple, please get your act together!
