2018 Macbook Pro will not start after battery drain

Hi All! I have a customer that has a 2018 Macbook Pro that she put aside and let sit until the battery was drained. Apparently it was still turned on as it sat there. Now when I try to power it up it does absolutely nothing. No keyboard backlighting, nothing on the screen or sound of any kind. Anybody have an suggestions for fixing this? I've let it sit with the charger on, disconnected the battery and held down the power button but nothing seems to work.

I honestly don't know if you can start an MBP without a functional battery. A brief internet search indicates that it should turn on even if there's no battery as long as it's connected to the mains. If it doesn't there may be a more serious issue.


You might look through these tips to see if anything applies (possibly the SMC reset?):
