Homepods don't chime when doorbell is rung
I have a recurring problem with my Logitech circle doorbell. Specifically, the homepods in my house frequently stop chiming when the doorbell is rung. My iPhone, iPad and laptop always respond to doorbell presses without fail, the problem seems to be specifically related to the homepods (mini, big and the new big one as well).
What I've tried so far:
Updating software on all devices to the latest version (did not help)
Turning 'chime homepods' off and on in the Apple Home software (this works occasionally, for a day or so)
Restarting all homepods and appleTVs in the house (this also sometimes works, for a day or so)
Removing and re-adding all homepods (this works for about a week and then the homepods all stop chiming again).
Since the doorbell rings my iPhone etc I am pretty sure this is a problem with the Homepod software itself. I notice that other people are reporting this same problem with both Logitech and other doorbell manufacturers as well.
Once the homepods have stopped chiming, they do not start again until I try one of the techniques above. I have had this problem for several months now and it's extremely frustrating. I've removed and added devices many times now. I was really hoping that getting the new Apple TV and big Homepod would solve the issue but it did not, and frankly Apple Home keeps choosing random old Apple TVs or mini Homepods to be the hub anyway.
My setup:
Logitech circle doorbell
1 x Homepod (2nd gen), 2 x Homepod (1st gen), 5 x Homepod Mini
1 x Apple TV 4K (latest gen with thread), 2 x Apple TV 4K (prev. generation)
