iPhone HomeKit No Response (iOS 16.3.1)

I am currently unable to control any HomeKit devices with my iPhone since updating to latest iOS. My wife is also unable to control the devices.

We can still control them using an iPad running iPadOS 16.3.

I have restarted all devices and hubs, but as I can control devices using iPad and native apps it seems to be an issue with my iPhone (13 Pro) and not the devices, network or hub.

Any suggestions on resolving the device specific problem?

Hi Adam.Clarke,

We appreciate you reaching out to us.

We’d like to gather additional details that may help us be in a better position to assist you.

  1. Which device are you using as a home hub?
  2. Is the home hub up to date as well?

If you haven't, please make sure that your home hub is up to date as well.

Below are some articles that you can use as a guide.

  1. Update HomePod - Apple Support
  2. Update your Apple TV - Apple Support
  3. Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If your home hub is already up to date, please remove a HomeKit device, then add it back.

You can follow the steps below to add your accessory back.

  1. "Open the Home app and tap Add  .
  2. Tap Add Accessory .
  3. Use the camera on your iPhone or iPad to scan the eight-digit HomeKit code, or QR code on the accessory or accessory documentation. If you have an iPhone 7 or later and see NFC-compatibility symbol on your accessory, hold your iPhone near the accessory to add it.
  4. When your accessory appears, tap it. If asked to Add Accessory to Network, tap Allow.
  5. Assign your accessory to a room and name it to help you identify it in the Home app and control it with Siri.
  6. Tap Continue, then tap Done."

You can use the article below as a reference.

Please keep us posted if the issue persists after adding the device back.

Are you getting an error message?

Take care!

My Home is broken. I have added home pods, but they disappear. I have tried to add another item, but it says I already have it. My husband's Home works great and he has tried to share it with me, but I can't accept because there is no "accept sharing" on my phone. Yes, I've tried shutting down and restarting and uninstalling and reinstalling the app - no change.

We called Apple Support, but they couldn't help. And the Apple user guide is useless.

I made a table comparing my Home with my husband's Home (see attached), which I hope demonstrates how mine is very different. We both have 12 Pro phones, purchased at the same time, and are both updated to 16.3.1.

So, what happened to my Home?
