How can I permanently stop continuous playback?

For the last few months, Apple Music has been automatically turning on the "continuous playback" feature when I listen to music.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's a specific playlist I made or just a single album. I usually hit "shuffle" on a playlist or album, and that's all I want to hear, until it ends, and then I want the music to stop until I choose something else. It used to work this way.

Now, there's an "infinity icon" that repeatedly turns itself on. I frustratingly turn it off every time I notice, but it doesn't save the setting per album or per playlist - it doesn't save the setting at all. It just automatically turns on.

How do make it stop? I literally never want to hear music that I did not choose.

Hey there WatcherJoshua,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, based on the information you've provided, it sounds like Autoplay is being enabled unexpectedly.

Just to confirm, are you disabling Autoplay, with the steps listed in the following resource: Add music to your queue to play next on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device - Apple Support

To turn Autoplay on or off, tap the Autoplay button the Autoplay button icon in the upper-right corner of your screen. If you turn off Autoplay on one of your devices, then Autoplay is turned off on any device that's signed in with your Apple ID.

If so, since the issue started have you also tried restarting your iPhone to see if that's able to help with the issue, even if just temporary? If not, give that a try with the next steps below: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later
1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

While restarting may seem like a simple step, it can sometimes help with resolving some unexpected issues like this.

Keep us updated on the results.

Take care!
