There are no users on this volume to recover

macbook pro 2018 15” intel

the last system update was interrupted by opening macOS Recovery with the message "There are no users on this volume to recover"

attempts to reboot from a disk or the Internet result in the same error

when loading single user mode, the text flies across the screen without stopping at the command line, goes to reboot and it's again macOS Recovery

Are there any similar cases?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 13.1

Hi SERHIl,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand you're having some difficulties completing the reinstall process on your Mac, and we'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

If you've already completed the steps in the link below and you're still receiving an error message, we recommend contacting Apple Support directly so that they can work with you to find a solution.

Reinstall macOS - Apple Support

1) Start up your computer in macOS Recovery:
*On a Mac with Apple silicon: Choose Apple menu  > Shut Down, press and hold the power button until “Loading startup options” appears, select Options, click Continue, then follow the onscreen instructions.
*On an Intel-based Mac: Choose Apple menu  > Restart, then immediately press and hold one of these key combinations, depending on what you want to do:
*Install the latest version of macOS compatible with your computer: Option-Command-R.
*Reinstall your computer’s original version of macOS (including available updates): Option-Shift-Command-R.
*Reinstall your current version of macOS: Command-R.
2) In the Recovery app window, select Reinstall for your macOS release, then click Continue.
3) Follow the onscreen instructions.
4) In the settings where you select a volume, select your current macOS volume (in most cases, it’s the only one available).

You can reach them by clicking here: Apple Support or calling the most local number in your region: Contact Apple for support and service
