Can't select multiple files using shift key

Why can I not select multiple files using the shift key? It works only like the command key, one file at a time.

I just discovered that if highlight multiple files in list view it works but not in icon view

right arrow button closes saving window in premire when trying to change name of file when I got to save a file in premier, it also happens when choosing a file destination in media encoder, and all the text of the present file name is highlighted and I press the right arrow button to go to the end of that file name to add to it, the save window just closes and goes back to premire, I think it's an issue with finder, I currently have a work around with Keyboard Maestro that avoids having to press the right arrow button to get to the end of the new file name to add a number to it (because I save all my files in order like project - 1, project - 2...)

importing a file from files.app doesn't remember last folder open When using any application like Notability (or Goodnotes, vectornator among others), and you import a file using the Files option, it will open a browser window. That used to open at the last folder location. Not anymore, at least in my case, it will open in the Recent Used option which, in fact, it is not the last recently opened. It seems that it is not updating the recently used. Is anyone else having the same issue? It is very annoying when you continuously have to import and navigate the folders again.

Double click to open leads to renaming file When I try to double click to open a document, it highlights the name of the file for renaming. This started recently but is increasingly annoying. I don't want to right click to open my files. Has anyone found a solution to this problem that's not about adjusting the click/track speed, because that doesn't solve the issue.

In Icon view, you have to drag a selection around the items.
