pages app no longer in iCloud

A cautionary tale, something’s very wrong with the Pages>iCloud link. First, all my files for 24 hours were “disappeared” from my iPad, Mac and TM, and iCloud then reappeared then disappeared again. I finally had to go back several days in TM to restore older versions without the recent updates and edits from the missing day. Apple Tech support says they have no idea what happened and without any backups there’s nothing they can do; they were disinterested in trying to figure out why it happened and left it as a polite kiss-off. Now, the Pages app is gone from iCloud, and the files into iCloud Drive. Is anyone having Pages problems, or have any idea what’s going on?
