SSD's and video editing (FCP X)

re: Final Cut Pro X on a Macbook Air M1 and/or M2:

Building a small, little system -- Any recommendations for SSD's as scatch discs for 4K video editing? Looking at Crucial X6 4TB Portable SSD – Up to 800MB/s – USB 3.2

as a candidate for outboard video-clip drive(s). I understand this particular drive is great for simple file transfer and video storage but I need to know if these latter day SSD's are capable of on-line, non-linear, up to 4K, with, very little rendering, non-commercial editing projects? Not much in visual effects/graphics... straight forward interview audio (no effects).

Shorthand? Nothing special...

Being away from the game for nearly 10 years is really showing... Ouch!

SSDs can greatly improve the performance of video editing software like Final Cut Pro X (FCP X). However, there are a few issues you may encounter when using SSDs with FCP X, such as:

  1. Limited storage space: SSDs tend to have smaller storage capacities compared to traditional hard drives. If you're working with large video files, you may quickly run out of space on your SSD.
  2. Expensive: SSDs are generally more expensive than traditional hard drives. If you need a large amount of storage space, using an SSD may not be cost-effective.
  3. Overheating: SSDs generate heat when in use, and if they overheat, they can slow down or even fail. Make sure your computer has proper cooling to prevent overheating.
