My message box is too enlarged

When I text a long message my text box expands so large I cannot see the message I was responding to. It will not minimized or allow me to scroll back up to view the text. Is anyone else having this problem? It’s very minor but very frustrating. I attached a pic of the issue. I often type long messages but it did not used to take up my entire screen. I feel like the last update causes this.
