iPhone running iOS 16 stopped auto-fill of credit card info

My iPhone won't auto-fill my credit cards anymore. Other details other than credit cards still auto-fill. On my Mac, both work fine.

I got a replacement card today and obviously something about updating the card number, expiration date, and security code.

I've tried all of the obvious things like restarting the phone, turning off an back AutoFill and for credit cards specifically. The saved credit cards are ok. The wallet looks good, so I'm pretty much out of ideas.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hello mrfcobf,

Thanks for those details. To further isolate, check to see if you have Private Browsing enabled as this may be preventing AutoFill on websites: Turn Private Browsing on or off on your iPhone - Apple Support

If that's not enabled, try clearing the cookies from Safari and then testing again: Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If the above steps don't help, contact Apple Support. They'll be able to look into this with you further.

Have a great day.

Hey mrfcobf,

If we understand correctly, the iPhone will not automatically fill in your credit cards. Let's get a little more information help narrow this down.

Which app are you using that is not auto filling the card information?

Have you updated the iPhone to latest available version of iOS?

Automatically fill in your information in Safari on iPhone - Apple Support

Check both of these settings locations, but turn them on.

  • "Turn off AutoFill for your contact or credit card information: Go to Settings  > Safari > AutoFill, then turn off either option.
  • Turn off AutoFill for passwords: Go to Settings > Passwords, unlock the screen, tap AutoFill Passwords, then turn off AutoFill Passwords."

Keep us posted.

I just went in and made sure the autofill settings are correct and credit cards are enabled and showing. I also double-checked and it says iOS is up to date. The spots that used to fill and don't now are all in Safari. I went in and deleted my card from a few sites and had to readd manually. Just to try it out, I also went into the Amazon and eBay apps and did the same. I even tried shutting the phone off and then restarting it.

Let me know what to try next. It's not a crucial thing since I have a work-around and just enter manually, but it would be great if it would work again.

Thanks!
