iOS 16.3 battery percentage problem

Hi

I have been having a problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max for a few weeks now.

The battery marks a percentage (46)

But when I turn it off and turn it on again this increases by about 5-6%.

In the image you can see that after restarting it is at 51%.

After a few minutes it returns to the original value (before shutdown) as shown in the picture.

The battery is new and is at 100% capacity.

I have tried a DFU reboot and even a battery recalibration, however it has not solved the problem.

Can you help me?

Who told you to do this procedure? Some of it makes no sense and some of it is bad advice. You can't "overcharge" a battery. It will automatically stop charging at 100%. And, the worst thing you can do to a rechargeable battery is to drain it and leave it in that state. Six hours probably won't do a huge amount of harm but it's not a good idea.

It's not possible to calibrate a battery. Apple used to recommend that you calibrate the battery sensor once a month by charging the phone completely then letting it run until it turned itself off then charging again completely. However, that recommendation was dropped years abo.

I'm afraid that hasn't solved the problem as the battery indicator is still giving values that are not accurate to its real capacity.

The steps are as follows:

  • Charge the iPhone / iPad to 100% as normal. You don't need to overcharge it, simply charging it to 100% of its level will suffice (even when this percentage is apparently displayed incorrectly).

  • Once it reaches this percentage, do not disconnect the device from the charger and keep it there for approximately 2-3 hours. You will be able to use the device normally during this time, but always plug it in without disconnecting it for a moment.

  • Once the indicated time has elapsed, proceed to unplug it and let the battery drain completely until the device turns off. You can of course use it as normal, and in fact it is even advisable to carry out actions that will help the battery to run down.

  • Once the phone has switched off due to lack of battery, keep it in this state for approximately 6 hours. Do not try to switch it on during this time.

  • When this time has elapsed, charge it with a cable. Again, we recommend that you do not interrupt this process by unplugging it, even for a second. It is important that you leave it charging for 6 hours and that, even if it turns on, you try not to use it during that time. In fact, it is advisable to turn it off manually once it has turned on, as the device will turn on shortly after it has been charging.

  • After the recommended 6 hours, unplug it from the mains and leave it for 5-10 minutes in this state and then turn it back on. You will be able to use your iPhone / iPad normally.
