There are a couple of things you can do, if you Mac is in macOS Catalina or later follow https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202860
if you have macOS Mojave or earlier follow Change or reset the password of a macOS user account in macOS Mojave or earlier – Apple Support (UK)
Any of those should work depending on your macOS version.
If neither of those work please contact apple support for your region.
