Calendar syncing without iCloud and Ventura

Since I downloaded Ventura (now on 13.2) my Calendars are not syncing between my MacBookPro and my iPhone13 (on 16.3). In fact, they either (1) don't sync at all or (2) sync but change all all-day events to daily, change the repeat to the same date, multiply all-day events by as much as 10. In other words, a total disaster. I do NOT use iCloud. Privacy concerns. My phone call to Apple was not helpful as the advisor put me on iCloud and backing out resulted in the loss of most of my data. This whole thing happened to me back in 2020 and after 3 calls to Apple Support, I ended up having to delete my calendars and re-build them. Not again?! Help!

Hello LibrarianMadam,

Let's use the applicable set of steps below to boot your MacBook Pro into safe mode to see if that persists from there:

How to use safe mode
Determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Apple silicon
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor
1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

You can also find those steps in this resource: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

It can take a few extra minutes to boot into safe mode. Your screen may flash or flicker while in safe mode. Those behaviors are expected. Testing in safe mode runs a check on your disk, removes some cached files, and can help isolate conflicts with startup items. Once you've tested that behavior in safe mode, you can restart to leave safe mode.

Should that behavior still persist, do you manually sync your iPhone with your Mac via USB?

Also, are you syncing calendars for a single email account, or is this happening with calendars for multiple email accounts?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward based on those details.
