HomePod streaming interrupted

Is anyone else having the problem of music streaming to their HomePod being regularly interrupted for a second or two? I have the problem on all of mine in different parts of the house. I have reset each to no avail. Streaming Apple Music content on either my iPhone, iPad or Apple TV has no problem. Using Airplay from, say my phone, to any of the HomePods doesn’t have the problem, it’s only when directly streaming to the HomePod that it happens. This is a recent problem, not had it before in all the time I have had HomePods. I have reported the problem back to Apple.

If multiple HomePods stop playing music unexpectedly, the first thing we would recommend is to ensure each HomePod is fully updated. This installs feature improvements and bug fixes that can resolve behavior like this. These steps from Update HomePod show how to do this:

1. Make sure that your device is updated to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS
2. Open the Home app. 
3. Tap or click the More button , then Home Settings  > Software Update.
4. If there's a new update, select Update. If there isn't a new update, you can select HomePod to turn on automatic updates and get the latest software automatically when it's available. Software Update also tells you if your HomePod is already up to date, and shows you the installed HomePod software.

A white spinning light appears on the top of HomePod while it's updating. The update might take some time. Make sure that your HomePod stays plugged in while it's updating. 


If this continues after updating each HomePod, then we would recommend reaching out to Apple Support next. They would be the best suited to look into this issue further. Contact them using this: Contact - Official Apple Support

Thanks for replying. I’m pretty good and keeping devices up to date but interestingly although I had all HomePods setup to automatically update I had to manually invoke the update to the latest software. Following the update I would say that the interruptions still occur but less frequently than before when directly streaming to the HomePods rather than using Airplay from my iPhone / iPad. In the Home App I have Apple Music setup to stream in lossless format. I wonder if that is something to do with it.
