Is there a way to keep the lock screen image on?

Currently the lock screen goes to black after only displaying the lock screen image a few seconds. I want the lock screen image to stay on and not go to black. is there a way to do this? i have ipad pro 12.9" 5th gen, ipad pro 11" 4th gen. What's the point of even setting a lock screen image if i can't view it?
