Logic Pro recording latency

I'm recording into Logic Pro through my Universal Audio Apollo Twin thunderbolt and using direct input monitoring through the Apollo. When I play to the click in Logic, the audio that is recorded is slightly delayed (more delay as the I/O buffer size increases). Every time I record something new, I need to manually drag the audio region back onto the grid based on the transients. I thought that the I/O buffer size in Logic Pro was only relevant for audio playback through the app, not for audio signal entering the app and being recorded. As far as I can tell, this is an issue caused by Logic Pro / my settings in Logic Pro, and not by my Apollo / its settings.

Settings:

  • MacBook Pro 16" M1 Pro, 32GB RAM
  • Project saved on the internal Macintosh HD
  • A few UAD 2 Plugins running on the Apollo's DSP
  • Logic I/O Buffer Size: (I've tried them all, from 32-1024 and experience the issue with all of them, to varying degrees)
  • Logic Processing Threads: (Automatic)
  • Logic Process Buffer Range: Medium (I've also tried small)
  • Logic's Software monitoring is turned off
  • Logic's Plugin latency compensation is on
  • No plugins are loaded in Logic Pro project

I had a similar problem a while ago,

I fixed it by going to Logic, Preferences, Audio, DEVICES

then unchecking enabled Core Audio, they apply, then check the enable core audio box again and apply again.

This sorted it for me anyway.

Worth a try.

Good luck
