Dial Assist Function Missing on iPhone 12 Mini

I am unable to dial international numbers from my iPhone 12 mini. My service provider suggested Dial Assist should be turned off. BUT ..I can search (in settings) and find a Dial Assist icon, but there is no function behind this. If I click it takes me to Phone settings/information. I have updated to iOS 16.3.

I have checked all videos on how to access and turn off Dial Assist. Settings-> Phone-> Dial Assist (bottom of page next to 'Change Voicemail Password'), but it just not there as an option.

Anyone solved this issue?

I have the same problem on my iPhone 13, with iOS 16.3. My carrier was recently acquired / bought by another big carrier in Brazil. And there was an ongoing migration process in place. By bad luck is that the migration process was complete 1 day after I updated to iOS 16.3. The Dial Assist option no longer exists and I can change the code for my new long distance call service provider.

But I can't figure out if this option is erased by carrier settings, which would be weird since I bought my iPhone with no carrier restrictions...

I suspect that means that your carrier has not provisioned international calling on your account, so you may need to badger the carrier. Another possibility, if the phone is a company phone or one that has a company (or school) email account on it the company may by default block international calling. If that’s a possibility contact the IT department.

And a 3rd possibility is your carrier settings may not be set correctly. see this for how to fix that→Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

It’s in Settings/Phone. It is the very last switch on the page; you need to scroll down to find it.

But generally, you should leave it on. How are you dialing international numbers? The correct procedure is to put a “+” before the country code, so to call the UK, for example:

+44 555 1212

You can also use the international access number for your country, but as these vary the + generally works better. In the US the international access code is 011, so to call the above number you would enter:

011 44 555 1212

That's exactly what I was expecting BUT unfortunately that icon is not there .. the menu on my iPhone 12 mini ends at 'Change Voicemail Password;, and the Dial Assist option is just not there.

regarding dialing . I have tried using the '+',and also use '00' which is the standard prefix from the UK. Landline phone can access the number I'm dialing. Thank you for responding.

Hi Lawrence, I can confirm that I do have an International option on my contract and have been using it frequently. I can phone internationally to other countries. The phone/contract is not associated with any business so no restriction there. The number I am attempting to dial is one I have dialled many times before from this phone.

I have talked to the provider and they can not identify any restrictions in the contract or service, but have had problems with the Dial Assist before.

Would the service provider be able to influence the availability of dial assist on the iPhone? I would think that's down to an Apple Update??

I'll check the carrier settings as you note above. Thank-you
