“CarPlay will be disconnected “

My new Chevy automatically connects to iPhone with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on. However, I have noticed that phone is using data instead of Chevy Wi-Fi. When I check Wi-Fi connection on radio, it shows that the phone is connected. When I try to check Wi-Fi connection on iPhone it says “accessing Wi-Fi will disconnect CarPlay”. Then it disconnects and immediately reconnects CarPlay.

How do I make sure phone, ie… maps, Spotify, etc is using car wifi ILO my data plan?
