Macbook Air Update with phone password not working

when i try to update my macbook it has me type in my apple ID password then my macbook password and then my phone password it’s all fine until i type in my phone password and it says it’s the wrong password but it’s definitely my phone password i typed it into my phone to make sure i didn’t like change it and forget and it definitely was my password i don’t know what to do can anyone help me?

If you changed the password on your Mac, you may be asked to enter your iPhone passcode to grant access for it to sync or share information with that device or to access certain types of encrypted data. If you changed your password on the iPhone recently, try using your former password, or the password for a different device if associated with your Mac.


If those steps fail, contact Apple Support to investigate further.
