How do I set the defaults for Freeform?

How do I set the defaults for Freeform?

Within an existing document, I can get, for example, the rectangle tool from the default blue to a thick red outline. I can then set it for all subsequent rectangles ... for that file.

How can I set it for all new files as well?

In addition, but related, dragging images on to a Freeform document seems to create a thumbnail. Is there a way to set a default import scale ... preferably 100%. I do not know why the default font size is so large at 18 pt ... (I keep setting it back to 12pt) ... but then the default image size is so small. I am working with screenshots ... and I cannot seem to scale any two to be the same!!!
