how to get photos off iphone once icloud photos is enabled?
6 months ago I enabled icloud photo backup and purchased 2TB.
Now I want to get the photos off my iphone onto my mac and into lightroom classic so I can edit, tag, view, publish and back them up to different external HDs etc.
However, there does not seem to be any way to access them.
In finder, if I open my iphone, and click on photos tab, it says: "You can access every photo and video you take from any device. To sync photos from this Mac, turn off iCloud Photos."
So in order to do anything with my photos, I have to disable icloud photos, which will delete the photos off my iphone?
This seems madness.
I have heard you can access your photos via the web, but to download say 10GB of photos from the web onto my mac, which would take weeks, when I have the phone already connected and would take minutes or hours, seems crazy.
Before I purchased icloud backup, I used onedrive to backup my iphones photos, which didnt stop me from simply copying the photos off the phone onto my mac so I could a) process them b) back them up to external HDs, c) delete them off the iphone to free up space.
It seem icloud is a massive step backwards for photographers, at least those using lightroom?
I had purchased 2TB of icloud storage so my family could backup their photos to it also, but now I find that none of us can access each others photos, so its a complete waste of time for that also.
Or does noone use lightroom classic with iphones? Before it worked great.
I also have about 2TB of photos take with various canon cameras, partly on my mac, partly on external HDs. none of these are in icloud obviously.
