Reset my Mac won't let me download OS El Capitan

I'm reset my Mac to give away but when I try to download a new OS it only lets me choose El Capitan but when it gets to the end of downloading it after it's downloaded it to my hard drive, it tells me that it is unable to download. I would like to learn how to either switch the OS or get this one to work

OS X El Capitan for Mabook 2008 I needed to re-install the operating system for my old MacBook 2008. And there is only one suitable OS for it - El Capitan. In the recovery mode I selected "install macOS" and it was downloaded to my mac. However, during the installation process all time I saw the same error "OS cannot be installed on this computer. Reach out to the support". So now my mac doesn't work because it doesn't contain OS system and I cannot install OS X El Capitan due to some unclear reasons. Anyone know how to resolve such an issue?
