Parental ctrls do not block youtube app

Hi, seems to be old issue. I managed it by taking sidestep and restricted downloading of any application. Junior was disappointed this morning when noted that youtube is gone and he cannot load it back. It is for his best only as phone was glued to his hand and ignored all appeals to stop.

Why can’t you block YouTube from being downloaded on a kids phone? I have content restrictions from age 9 but because YouTube was previously downloaded , my child is able to redownload it. Once it’s downloaded, the age restrictions does not apply. I have content restrictions on 9 years old. My child is still able to download YouTube. They can also still search explicit titles. I have age restrictions on the iPhone and a parent restricted account on YouTube and inappropriate material is still able to be searched. I want to completely block YouTube from being allowed on the devices at all but I am not able to do so even though it is rated 17+. Can anybody help me out?

Why can't I block YouTube during downtime on iPhone? I've been reading posts for years and it is just maddening that Apple, one of the most successful companies in our country's history. Cannot make a reliable function to block all access to apps and internet during down time. I've done all the tricks listed here, updated software, rebooted phones etc. My kids can access YouTube through Safari or directly through the app any time they want during down time. Yes, the "always allowed" is set up properly. Why can't this work Apple? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

How to block specific apps? Specifically ones that were previously downloaded "With Content & Privacy Restrictions in Screen Time, you can block or limit specific apps and features on your child's device." This statement from Apple's own support page is a lie. You absolutely CANNOT block specific apps on your child's device. There is NO option for a "Don't Allow" list. There's NO way to limit specific app time to anything less than 1 minute per day. The only way to entirely block an app is to restrict the age rating, but then EVERY app with that age rating will be blocked. This is absolutely maddening. Does anybody who is actually a parent of real-life children have anything to do with developing Apple parental controls? Am I missing something? Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I have been able to discover, Apple's level of parental control on apps is unforgivably inadequate.
