Family sharing - parent approval not working

Hello,

we have and issue with downloading app approving by parent (organizator of family sharing). The kid try to download the app, ask for approval and instead of notification that we were used to get (stopped working aprox. a week ago) the request is send via iMessage to the parent. When the parent click on the approval preview in the iMessage, App Store is opened but there is no Approve nor Reject button, so we are unable to allow the kid to download the app, meaning the process is blocked in this step.


Normally, in the past, we recieved notification as it is claimed here, but now via iMessage it is not working at all. Both of our devices are software up-to-date. (Approval, parent: iPhone 12 Pro, kid: iPad 9. generation - new device, but we had issues even on previous device, iPad mini)


Could you please provide any help how to proceed and unblock the approving by parent?

Recently there's been an issue with ATB notifications not arriving at certain devices, so I'll start with an undocumented possible solution mentioned by several people where editing the name of a mobile device worked for them:

Settings > General > About > Name

Change the name

Then "Done" and retry.


Otherwise If Ask to Buy isn't working, read the suggestions in the document: If Ask to Buy isn't working - Apple Support about looking for the request in Messages or Notification Center.


Make sure notifications haven't been disabled. This article discusses notifications: Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Make sure the software is up to date on all devices involved.


Sometimes it helps to have the devices involved take a fresh look at settings:

● Try signing out of accounts and back in again.

Sign in with your Apple ID - Apple Support

● Restarting is a simple step that can resolve many unexpected behaviors.
