No alarm on multiple Bluetooth speakers

I have Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones and Galaxy Buds+ earbuds. The alarm does not play in either

My media may pause or get quiet, but I cannot hear the alarm itself, it only comes out of the phone speakers

I don't understand why alarms wouldn't default to play over the same device as media. If I can receive calls and talk to Siri, there's no reason an alarm couldn't play over the same device

Hello RJMichalski,

For help with alarm notification sounds when using Bluetooth, check the volume settings with the steps below found in the article here: How to set and change alarms on your iPhone - Apple Support

"How to change the alarm's volume

  1. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
  2. Under Ringtone and Alert Volume, drag the slider left or right to set the volume. As you drag, an alert will play, so you can hear how the volume changes.
  3. Turn on Change with Buttons to use the volume buttons on your device to change the alarm volume."

Be sure to also view the section "If the alarm volume is too low or quiet" in the same article near the bottom of the page.

If the issue remains after checking your settings and you have an iPhone that uses Face ID, view and adjust your attention awareness settings with the article here: Turn Attention Aware features on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro

Should the issue remain reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.

The settings in my phone's sounds and haptics section were already set to use buttons. This isn't an issue where the alarm is silent, when the timer goes off, the media I'm playing will stop, allowing the alarm to sound, but it comes out of only the phone, not the earbuds. When I stop the timer's alarm, my media immediately starts playing again, so the phone recognizes the starting and stopping of the alarm

I went through the section at the bottom about alarms and they are also not helpful. Specifically, the final bullet point is what is failing:

  • If you connect headphones to your iPhone, the alarm plays at a set volume through the built-in speakers on your iPhone as well as wired and wireless headphones.

I'm falling to understand the connection between the attention aware features and the phone playing a timer alarm only through the phone speakers and not through Bluetooth connected earbuds

One thing I discovered today is that when creating a new alarm, every sound I select only plays the demo of that sound through the phone. They are also not playing through the Bluetooth earbuds
