2018 MBP Touch Bar visible but not responding

Recently my touch bar stopped responding. I have tried force quitting the touch bar server and restarting my Mac Book Pro. Still won't register my touch.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.5

Hi there PineappleDunc,

If the Touch Bar is not responding to touch and this continues after restarting, then the next thing we would recommend is to ensure your Mac is running the latest version of macOS Monterey, 12.6.2. This installs security updates and bug fixes that can resolve these kind of issues. These steps from Update macOS on Mac show how to back up and update:

Use Software Update
Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.
1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen:
• Choose System Settings. Then click General in the sidebar, and Software Update on the right.
• Or choose System Preferences. Then click Software Update.
2. If Software Update finds new software, click the Update Now or Upgrade Now button to install it.
Software Update windowe

3. Enter your administrator password, if asked. During installation, your Mac might restart, and you might see a progress bar or blank screen several times.

If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model. Software Update shows only updates and upgrades that are compatible with your Mac.

If this continues after updating your macOS, then let's next see if this continues to occur after the Mac is started up in safe mode. This helps us identify if software that loads as your Mac starts up is responsible for what's happening. This walks you through the process: Start up your Mac in safe mode

Take care!
