BritBox Subscription Not Working

I subscribed to BritBox through Apple TV. Actual physical box not the app. When I try to watch a show it constantly asks me to buy a subscription. However when I go to the BritBox web site and log in I can watch shows. And in the web site if I check my account and subscription it says I am subscribed via Apple and need to go there to manage my subscription.

So it would seem the BitBox app on the physical Apple TV box has a bug and I am stuck in a loop and don't know how to fix it.

I have tried logging out and logging back in but that does not help. I deleted the app and downloaded it again but that does not help.

In the BritBox app if I choose a subscription at the prompt it tells me I am already subscribed and then just sits there and displays the busy activity spinner.

I am stuck. Please help ASAP.

This is not what is happening here....

I subscribed through my Apple TV 4K using the BritBox App and not the channel. When I try to watch something in the BritBox App (not channel) it constantly tells me I need to subscribe. If I click on the subscribe button it then tells me I am already subscribed.

I can then go to a computer and open a web browser and log into BritBox and watch whatever I want. In the BritBox web site, if I look at the details of my account for subscription, it says I am subscribed through Apple and I must manage my subscription there.

This is clearly a problem with either Apple or the BritBox app (not channel) because everything works fine when I use a computer and web browser.

There doesn't seem to be a way to fix this other than to cancel the subscription via Apple then use a web browser and directly subscribe with BritBox. This defeats the purpose though of keeping my financial information solely with Apple.

  • If you subscribed directly with BritBox, then you may sign in to the BritBox app on any of your devices on any platform. Not the channel in the Apple TV app, though.
  • If you subscribed to the BritBox channel in the Apple TV app (on the Apple TV box or elsewhere), then you can watch it in the Apple TV app on any of your devices that has the Apple TV app. Not in the content provider app, though.
  • If you subscribed to BritBox in the BritBox app on an Apple device, then this subscription is valid for the BritBox app on any of your Apple devices. Not the channel in Apple TV app, though. Not on third party devices. When accessed on a different device than originally used for starting the subscription, then you may need to confirm by using the “Restore Purchase” option, instead of sign-in.

These types of subscriptions have different terms and conditions, different perks and limitations, and are mostly not exchangeable as such. Select content providers may support crossover access by confirming the subscription from Apple, but that isn’t automatic.
