headphones's mic doesn't work properly on iPhone 12

Hey everyone

For a while I got complains from people that they can't hear me when im speaking through my AirPods. I realized that it's happening mainly with one of the earbuds so I figured that my headphones are just gettin old. But recently I get the same reaction when I speak to people with my Bose 700 (which should be fine) which ,makes me wonder if the problem might be in my iPhone, did anyone else have the same type of issue? Do you have a solution?

I'm using an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Thanx

Hello iphoner123,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. If you're experiencing audio/microphone issues while using your AirPods during a phone call, we'd like to help out. Allow us to share some steps you can try to further isolate this issue and possibly sort it out. First, try a basic restart of your iPhone to see if that helps. This can help refresh things: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

1.) Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2.) Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3.) To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

You can also try resetting your AirPods. This is another great step to try: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

1.) Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
2.) Wait 30 seconds.
3.)Open the lid of your charging case, and put your AirPods in your ears.
4.) Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Or go to Settings > [your AirPods].
-If your AirPods appear there as connected, tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm.
-If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.
5.) Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.
6.) Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.
7.) Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps on your device's screen.

Additionally, if you have any pending updates available, try installing them. Keeping your device fully updated can help resolve various issues and help with performance: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
