iMessage delete syncing not working

My Mac is running Ventura and the iPhone is on 16.0.2. Messages, when they come in are instantly viewable on both devices. However deletion does not synch across both devices. I am logged in with the same ID in both devices. I then tried what was suggested in iMessage delete syncing not working - Apple Community. It worked flawlessly for a few days and now it's back to not synching again. I am beginning to suspect that when I go into low power mode the synching stops (which makes sense) but somehow does not start to re synch after the battery is charged.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Thanks Dustin_R_308 for your response.

iOS version on the phone is on 16.2 and the Mac is on 13.1, which is the latest for both devices. (I made a mistake in the original post and had mentioned 16.0.2, which is incorrect.)
