LaCie external drive not mounting

So I know better but ripped my external hard drive out without ejecting it properly (more than once.) Now I can't connect to the drive -- the info on it is not terribly important, I would be happy to just wipe it and start over, but I'm not even sure if I can do that. I ran disk first aid on it and this was the message I received. My question is, can I reformat this drive and, if so, how if my mac is not connecting properly? Thank you!
