Can a SATA connected SSD be added to a 2019 iMac that shipped solely with a PCIe connected SSD?

If an SSD drive can be added via SATA, does the system view this as a separate drive or as a singular unit like as seen with a fusion drive set up. Thank you.

It would be an independent drive unless you took steps to create a Fusion drive by combining it with the PCIe stick.

Keep in mind that significant, delicate disassembly/reassembly is required to replace the internal SATA drive. Not recommended.
