Ever since I updated my IMac to the Ventura operating system my SuperDrive refuses to work. When I plug the SuperDrive into a USB port there is a whirring sound showing that power is reaching the device but it refuses to appear in Finder. Any suggestions ?

my iMac is the 27 inch 2019 model and the SuperDrive seemed to work well with previous operating system. Unfortunately there is still a disc in the SuperDrive from previously but I can’t get it to eject now it’s working on the Ventura operating system
You do have to insert a disk before the drive appears.
on the top right hand edge of the screen is the eject button but when you click on this it shows “Apple SuperDrive” in faint letters but it doesn’t work
Try restarting your Mac and hold the mouse button down while it restarts until the disk is (hopefully) ejected.

many apologies! i thought there was a disc in the SuperDrive but clearly there wasn’t! I’ve just inserted a disc and it’s now working. Sorry for any confusion.
