Apple Music subscription management

I just changed from a family plan to an individual plan on Apple Music but it still says it’s going to charge me the family plan price($16.99). My family and I still share icloud+. I’ve read somewhere that I should try removing them and then adding them back into family sharing but would that mess with their iCloud storage? Or are there any other solutions to this?
