Cellular signal randomly going out

Around the time I updated to iOS 16 my cellular signal will randomly cut off and I won’t know it until I go to make a call. I have to be in the habit or routinely making sure it’s not off. This is becoming a huge issue and certainly a problem safely wise. If I can’t use my life line readily when I need it either to make outgoing calls or no one can reach me, what good is it? This has been occurring for months now— I think even before the iOS 16 update but can’t be sure how long because I don’t frequently make phone calls or received them. It’s happening all too frequent now that I’m aware and watching. I usually have to go into the settings, turn the cellular line off and then back on again and it alleviates the problem, at least temporarily. Does anyone have an explanation, or solution for this and is this an issue Apple is aware of and actively working to fix?

Hello coyotenegra,

With what you're describing, we'd recommend first completing the troubleshooting listed on the article: If you see No Service, Searching, or SOS on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

These same steps are used for poor or dropped signal as well as missing signal. Confirming the network strength in your area is also important given how long this has been going on. They may want to look into a new SIM card. If your cellular provider is unable to assist, then contact Apple Support.
