unable to mount drive error 49218
ok 13 inch MacBook pro m1 with the latest version of mac osX. and a western digital my passport 4 terabyte mechanical external drive. so a few days ago i had my drive hooked up i was doing stuff at work and got called away so i closed the clam shell. and this generally puts the machine to sleep.. i didnt get back to my computer before the end of my shift so when i did get back to my computer it was time to go home i just unplugged everything and went home.. i did not touch anything until the next night when i came back to work. i set the laptop up flip up the clamshell log in and then hook up my drive.. it asked if i wanted to allow this device to connect i said yes.. (its never asked me that before) my drive never mounted so i went and unplugged it again and then plugged it back in.. this time nothing happened. so i unplug it turn off the computer with the power button this time and then wait a few minutes turned it back on and this time made sure the drive was plugged in when the machine booted ugh still nothing. so i go into the drive utility and its there but the drive isn't mounted so i try to mount it.. and i get this error. so i try running first aid and that didnt work because it cant mount the drive. this happened to me once before and i had to format the drive on a different computer but this drive is using apfs and so im not sure thats going to work since that other computer is a older mac pro. so my question is this.. is there anyway to get my data off this drive? it wont mount on a windows machine because i 1 dont have a windows machine and 2 pretty sure apfs isn't going to be recognized by windows. but there are a ton and i mean a ton of things on this drive i need. some of the things i had already moved to cloud and other hard storage but i wasn't finished and so i have about a years worth of nikon raw images i need to transfer off of that drive. i have read though the forums but it seems like a dead end. here's some screen shots of my issue. also this drive will not mount on any of my other macs which are all running the latest version of osx
