2019 Macbook Pro randomly ejects external drives

"Disk not ejected properly". I've been living with this problem for years and it seems to be a problem inherent in the Mac "architecture" and I cannot find a solution. This has happened with two computers and with different external drives and I need help. My computer just randomly ejects the disks and the warning window pops up as if I unplugged the drives but I did nothing.

Current setup: 2019 16-inch Macbook Pro running Ventura and OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual External housing with two non-raided 5TB drives. One of the drives is for Time Machine and the other is my media backup storage. I've tried multiple cables and ports. I had this exact same problem with my 2012 Macbook Pro. It happens regardless of OS. I connect the dual drives to my computer, both drives show up and function and everything is great. I'm doing work and at some point within a couple of hours the drives are just kicked off as if I unplugged them. It's just crazy making. It seems like such a basic function that should work. Any help out there?
