Assistive Touch Button on iPad

Hi Everybody,

I have an iPad Pro, purchased in 2017. OS is 16.2.

I’ve always used the Assistive Touch button and, yesterday, it disappeared from my screen.

My iPad is set so that 3 presses (“triple-click) of the home button will make the Assistive Touch button re-appear. That used to work to restore visibility of the Assistive Touch button, but no longer works.

My Assistive Touch setting is set to “ON.” I’ve tried the following things, to no avail:

1. Turned the Assistive Touch setting off and then on, again.

2. Shut down the iPad then turned it back on, again.

3. Reset the “Customize Top Level Menu” for Assistive Touch.

4. Increased and decreased the “Idle Opacity” slide bar (“Reduces the visibility of Assistive Touch when not in use”).

5. Reset All Settings (general iPad settings).

Other than this issue, I have no other loss of function with this iPad (except for battery life).

If anyone has any ideas on how to get back the Assistive Touch button, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you!

iPad Pro, iPadOS 16
