When listening to music on Apple Car Play on my iPhone 14 pro and a message comes in, the music doesn't mute and keeps playing, at a slightly lower level, while Siri dictates the message.

When listening to music on Apple Car Play on my iPhone 14 pro and a message comes in, the music doesn't mute and keeps playing, at a slightly lower level, while Siri dictates the message. The message volume is barely above the radio volume.

I'm on 16.2, the Toyota head unit it up to date, I've removed CarPlay from the vehicle, I've reset the head unit, hard reset the phone, etc....

I've also tried this on an iPhone 11 with iOS 16.2

I spoke with Toyota and they don't have an answer.

My wife's BMW mutes for all Siri dictation of messages, so I assume that's the standard procedure.

Hello weh114,

If this happens each time when receiving a message with CarPlay, then it sounds like a firmware issue with the car stereo.

To help investigate the behavior, reach out to Apple Support directly, as they'll be best equipped to assist with the issue. You can use the following link to reach out: Contact Apple Support

That's very bizarre behavior and I don't even know how that would be possible. My only theory is that the car is connected to another device that's near the vehicle. If the phone is powered off then it's not the phone that's connected to the RAV4 and something else has to be, like a friends, girlfriend, wife, etc.... phone/device.

I do not have CarPlay in my 2015 Toyota RAV4. However, Bluetooth from my iPhoneXR worked and still works fine. Randomly starting a few days ago, the Toyota audio system begins to provide driving directions. Even when Bluetooth is off. Even when phone is turned off. The Toyota dealer says this model does not even have navigation. Audio/Radio system was reset and software updated - problem continues. Toyota says it is a phone problem. Any ideas? The navigation audio cannot even be turned down in volume. Sounds like some kind of virus got into the Toyota audio system?
