Airtags with iphone 6

I have an iPhone 6. My new airtags will not pair with it. Do I have an option other than to return the airtags? I cannot get a new phone. Period.

Hello georgiafarmer,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you're looking to pair AirTags with an iPhone 6, but not seeing the option, right?

If we have that correct, this would be expected since the iPhone 6 would only be able to install iOS 12.5.6, currently. AirTags would require iOS 14.5 or later in order to be set up, and you can confirm this with the information below. We were able to locate these details in the following resource, if you'd like to review it: Set up your AirTag using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

What you need

• An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5 or later and two-factor authentication turned on

• Find My turned on.

• Bluetooth turned on.

• A strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection.

• Location Services turned on: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.

• To be able to use Precision Finding and to see the most accurate location for your AirTag, turn on Location Access for Find My. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, then scroll down and tap Find My. Check While Using the App or While Using the App or Widgets. Then turn on Precise Location.

We hope that's able to help clear up what you're experiencing.

Have a great day!
