Home (HomeKit) not detecting when at home

Ever since making the grave mistake of upgrading to 16.2 (and the new HomeKit architecture), our home no longer correctly detects if somebody is at home and always keeps the recording settings of our HomeKit cameras in the "when away" state. Location-based HomeKit automations also no longer work.

We have already undergone resetting and recreating the entire home twice (had to do it once anyways because literally everything was broken after the upgrade), including resetting all Home data in iCloud using the Apple-provided configuration profile for iOS.

Is there any way to fix this, seeing as there is no way back from the new architecture?

Did anybody else make similar experiences?

Is there a device/topic more appropriate to this? (Chose iPhone and iCloud on my iOS device out of desperation since there seems to be no topic more closely related to Home or HomeKit I could find.)

Edit: For whatever reason, my iPhone's software version is shown as iOS 14 on this thread, but please rest assured, all my devices are on 16.2 by now.

My Eufy cameras now after upgrading to new iOS 16.2 architecture, don’t switch from HOME mode to WHEN AWAY mode anymore. Had problems with wife loosing our HOME totally and then could not invite or accept. After setup a new home, she was a resident and not resident admin anymore but I sorted that now. Did setup a totally new HOME and re-build the home. Restarted all HomePod minis and OG and  TV and iPhones and iPads. Only the devices that are setup to be USE AS MY LOCATION setting are correct on mine, my wife and my son. Got some advise?
