Eco during FaceTime Calls using MacMini w/ Chip and Nexigo WebCam

Hello - I have an issue where there is issue where person I talk to can hear themselves which also interrupts their voice coming through cleanly aka without any interruptions. I am using Mac Mini with M1 chip bought in 2020 and just recently started to use it our LG TV as the display and output audio device. When I mute myself then the eco goes away and we can hear other side very clearly. So definitely something to do with our microphone on the webcam. Webcam is connected to MacMini via one of the USB-A ports MacMini has. TV is connected via HDMI cable. Appreciate if you can provide solution to this issue.

Hi ryane77. I tried the voice isolation feature. It didn't help. There is still echo on the call. Tried Skype and there is echo during skype call too. So it is not unique to facetime calls. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Greetings Goliath354,

It sounds like you are having issues with echoes while on a FaceTime call. We know how important this is for you, and you’re in the right place for answers.

Have you tried to filter out background sounds? This simple step can resolve issues like this. These steps are from the resource Change audio options for FaceTime calls on Mac:

Filter out background sounds
When you want your voice to be heard clearly on a FaceTime call and other sounds filtered out, you can turn on Voice Isolation (available on Mac models 2018 and later with macOS 12 or later). Voice Isolation prioritizes your voice on a FaceTime call and blocks out the ambient noise.
1. In the FaceTime app  on your Mac during a call, click Control Center  in the menu bar, then click Mic Mode.
2. Select Voice Isolation.

If you need continued assistance, then please reach out to the Apple support team via this link: Get Support.

Cheers!
