Disable autoconnect for BLE MIDI devices

Is there any way to permanently disable (at least for specific device) the auto connection for BLE MIDI device? Or perhaps is there any workflow simplification that i can utilise (via Automator or Shortcuts) that will allow me to disconnect MIDI Bluetooth connection with a single button press?

Apple Developer Documentation

Currently i have to manually disconnect via

Audio MIDI Setup->MIDI Studio->Open Bluetooth Configuration...->Disconnect

I am using a Ortho Remote as a Bluetooth rotary encoder (fancy knob) to play/pause, control volume levels. It was working perfectly on Monterey. I believe it was only connected as ordinary Bluetooth device but not as a BLE MIDI device.

In Ventura, it's recognised as BLE MIDI device and connected automatically which is stopping it from being used as volume control.

Thanks in advance.

Hello tolietboo,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand you're looking for assistance with an Ortho Remote in use with your Mac, right?

If we have that correct, this may be expected to be the path that is needed to be taken for this device. We were able to find the following information from the ortho remote guide that seems like this could be needed from teenage engineering. Let us know if this seems correct, and you can see more details here: ortho remote guide - teenage engineering

macOS setup

1. Open audio midi setup.

2. Go to window > midi studio > double-click bluetooth configuration.

3. Press and hold pairing button for 3 seconds.

4. The LED will pulsate light blue for 30 seconds indicating that ortho remote is scanning for devices.

5. Press [connect] in bluetooth configuration. ortho remote is now connected as a midi device.

In addition to checking out those details, see if you can create an MDI configuration to make this easier with your Ortho Remote. The following resource has more details on setting this up, if you'd like to review it: Set up MIDI devices using Audio MIDI Setup on Mac - Apple Support

We hope that's able to help. If not, provide more details for us to have a better understanding of the steps you've taken already. We'll use that information to provide the best next steps to take.

Have a great day!
