iPhone 14 Pro Max Maximum Battery Capacity dropped to 98% in less than 2 months

I bought my iPhone 14 Pro Max like 1.5 months ago. My wife and my sister owned an iPhone 14 Pro 1 month earlier than me. Their maximum battery capacity is still 100% while mine drop to 98% with 35 cycle count. I called to apple service centre and ran some diagnosis, they even said I have good battery charging habits. I never overcharge nor change overnight, and I did purposely reduce the frequency of charging also. I’m running iOS 16.2. Apple kept saying it has no issue and this drop is within their tolerance and they won’t be able to do anything. So so so disappointed when you know your device as abnormalities but couldn’t do anything. Who else face this problem?

Unless your mother and your sister have the identical model phone, which you’ve stated they don’t, have it configured exactly the same way as yours, use it exactly the same number of hours a day in the same places as you and charge at exactly the same times, comparing battery capacity is pointless.

Yes, what you’re seeing is completely with in the normal range of battery health decline, about 1% a month. There is nothing abnormal about your battery. When it drops below 80%, Apple will replace it. If that happens before your warranty expires, it won’t cost you anything. Meanwhile, there is absolutely no reason to be checking battery health unless 1) your phone isn’t working properly or 2) you’re nearing the end of your warranty.

It’s not abnormal at all. You’re wanting a fix for something that doesn’t actually have a problem. You have a warranty and if for some reason battery health drops below 80% in the one year warranty (or if you have AppleCare+ during your coverage period) the battery will be replaced for free. You made a comment about most people but…it’s not possible for you to know how most people battery health holds up and how many cycles it takes to drop each percent. Too many factors make it impossible for you to compare accurately someone else’s device battery health to your own.

Yes, I have a 14 Pro Max. You will continue to stress yourself out and convince yourself that something is wrong with your phone if you keep helicopter watching your battery health without experiencing actual issues to warrant it. If/when something goes awry with your phone take advantage of your warranty. That’s why it’s there.

There's something going on with the new 14 Pro line batteries. I bought a 14 Pro about 3 weeks ago and the battery is really bad. They advertise it should be around 30% better than last year's iPhone. It's far away from that.

I had an iPhone 13 for a whole year, and the battery was the best. To add to your theory, mine kept 100% battery health on those 12 months. I am particularly careful with the battery habits.

I am afraid, that I am going to the same situation as you, I expect that in a few months it will decrease way faster than the old one. And it's really something they should figure out, not us. It's quite annoying to see how bad it is.

I have opened a case, actually just a week after I bought it and they keep going in circles about it. No real solution, just 'keep it on save mode, disable that and that'. But man, I did not bought a phone with all its features just to have them paused...
