How to update with cellular data

If you have a phone with 5G service you can update using cellular data. You need one of these phones:

• SE 3rd edition
• iPhone 12 series
• iPhone 13 series
• iPhone 14 series

For all other iPhone models you need a Wi-Fi connection to update.

You need to be connected to WiFi to update iOS.

Oops.

I have seen a few posts in recent times that said what I repeated. Perhaps I missed that they were ‘corrected’.

You can update apps with cellular data if you turn on the switch in Settings/iTunes & App Store, but not iOS updates.
