Can't create a new VPN configuration On my MacBook Air M2 2022 macOS Ventura 13.2.1 22D68 I try creating a new VPN configuration. First, VPN tab is missing from the settings. When I search for it in Spotlight and open it, an error appears: Second, when I use the 3 dots in the Network tab, hit Add VPN Configuration -> L2TP over IPSec, fill all the info, including password and shared secret, and click create, nothing happens. Moreover, the server and username I put in don't get saved in a named configuration too. I first tried giving the VPN a custom name, but found a thread online that it is buggy, so tried leaving the default "VPN" as the name, but it didn't help too. Third, I also saw that VPN can be added to the top bar through the Control Centre, but it is missing from there too. Edit: I use this laptop as a personal device with a fresh OS install, so I shouldn't be limited by the manufacturer or distributor.

L2TP issue on Ventura? I had been using macOS Big Sur with two L2TP VPN configurations with no problems. I have now built a fresh laptop running macOS Ventura 13.0.1 and having problems with one of these VPN configurations. Both configurations are for connecting to devices acting as L2TP servers, one is a Draytek ADSL router and one is a SonicWALL Firewall. I can successfully connect to the Draytek router, this being both the ADSL router and the VPN server does not have the VPN server behind a NAT gateway. The SonicWALL at a different site is however behind another ADSL router which is performing NAT. In this second case the ADSL router doing the NAT has been configured to forward all the L2TP required ports to the SonicWALL. This works fine with older versions of macOS! It is apparently not working with macOS Ventura 13.0.1 I am therefore wondering if macOS Ventura has broken the ability to traverse NAT? Note: The error message I get is very basic as below Tue Dec 6 17:22:31 2022 : IPSec connection started Tue Dec 6 17:22:31 2022 : IPSec phase 1 client started Tue Dec 6 17:22:31 2022 : IPSec phase 1 server replied Tue Dec 6 17:23:01 2022 : IPSec connection failed Or if you prefer the GUI

You aren't speaking to Apple here. This is a user to user forum with Apple moderation.

You have a couple choices:

Join http://developer.apple.com/ and submit http://bugreporter.apple.com/ reports which may not have their feedback stated on this forum due to non-disclosure.

Accept the unsolicited feedback statement and submit feedback on http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Consider a third party VPN solution such as Cisco Anyconnect or Palo Alto Globalprotect depending on the destination site's VPN server.

Alternatively, instead of saying "it doesn't work" indicate a willingness to troubleshoot why the settings are not working as expected.
