iPhone 13 frozen

My screen is frozen when I tried to turn it off. The screen now reads “Emergency

SOS. Your iPhone initiated Emergency SOS at 7:54 pm when the side button and volume button were pressed.” I have tried the suggested press and quickly release the volume up button; the volume down button and the side button. Any one have that problem? What do you recommend I do?

Hi Charlottte1987,

Force restarting your iPhone would be the way to exit this mode. To clarify, did you follow the seps below, exactly?

"If iPhone isn’t responding, and you can’t turn it off then on, try forcing it to restart.

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

An illustration of two iPhone models, one with a Home button and one without, with the screens facing up. The volume buttons for each model are on the left side of iPhone, and the side button is on the right."

Bear in mind, you'd need to press and release the volume up and down buttons somewhat quickly. If you press and release them too slowly, it may not input properly.

If you still are unable to restart the iPhone, we'd advise contacting Apple Support directly for assistance.
