Hello Samikhatri124,

Based on the description you've provided, it sounds as though Optimized Battery Charging may be enabled. When this setting is enabled, you'll notice the iPhone charge quickly to 80%, and slow the charge from 80% to 100% to help maximize the lifespan of the battery. You can learn more about this feature in the following article. You can also find this setting by following the steps listed below.

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Battery.
  3. Tap Battery Health & Charging.

If you see a green toggle next to Optimized Battery Charging, that indicates that feature is enabled. Disable that feature by tapping the green toggle, then test to see if you notice a different in the charging behavior.

Those sound about right. Using a 20 watt USB-C/PD power source it should charge to 50% in 30 minutes, and to 80% in another 15 minutes. But if you are fast charging it then stops at 80% to wait for the phone to cool down from the heat generated by fast charging. That can take an additional 30 minutes. Finally, once it gets past 80% the charge rate slows significantly to about a 1 amp rate and then tapers down from that to reach zero at 100% so the phone won’t over charge. Putting that all together means that 3 hours from a low state of charge to 100% is normal.

The absolute best way to get maximum use on a charge, as well as slow the decline of battery capacity long term is to enable Optimized Battery Charging (Settings/Battery/Battery Health) and charge the device overnight, every night. The battery will fast charge to 80%, then pause. During the nighttime pause the phone will use mains power instead of battery power, allowing the battery to “rest”, and thus reducing the need to charge the battery quite as often. The phone will resume charging to reach 100% when you are ready to use your phone; it will “learn” your usage pattern. If you enable iCloud Backup (Settings/[your name]/iCloud - iCloud Backup) the phone will back up overnight also, assuring that you can never lose more than the current day’s updates.
